Undergalactic

'Undergalactic' explores the space between photography and abstract art. From a distance, the images appear painterly, ambiguous, their subjects difficult to discern. They invite closer inspection, and reveal themselves as photographs of the natural world; reality becomes an abstraction — life imitating art. Beneath this visual ambiguity lies another exploration: the mystery of life beyond our familiar experience. We know much about the vastness of the universe, yet comparatively little about the oceans that cover our own planet. Beneath the surface exists a world that feels almost extraterrestrial, inhabited by unfamiliar forms, textures and organisms. *Undergalactic* draws on this paradox, transforming the underwater world into something at once recognisable and alien, and inviting us to reconsider how much of our own planet remains unknown.
